CROATIAN MOTOVUN FILM FESTIVAL (22-24 July)
Celebrating twenty-five years of existence, Croatian Motovun Film Festival has decided to refresh parts of its concept. Or to be precise: the main concept remains the same – but the landscape expands. Together with the Istrian town Motovun, the beautiful hills of the Gorski Kotar region will become the second home of the Cinehill Motovun Film Festival. The location is underlining the festival’s green policy, as the whole festival will be directed towards eco-sustainability. The festival dates are 22-24 July in Motovun, followed by the Cinehill programme between 26–29 July. The programme reflects diversity, both visually and geographically, and is promoting social values as well as tackling contemporary issues.
DOKUFEST (4-12 August)
DokuFest, Kosovo’s largest documentary and short film festival is returning for its 22nd edition from 4-12 August. An eclectic programme of around 250 films will be presented in eight competitive sections. One short film will be selected as a candidate for the European Film Academy Awards.
In addition to the competitions, a dozen of specially curated programmes, including a Doc Alliance Awards selection of 16 films will be screened. To round up, festival will also present a host of live music events under its DokuNights banner, a series of panels, talks and masterclasses with acclaimed filmmakers.

LOCARNO (2-12 August)
Since 1946, Locarno has been home to the most daring and irreverent forms of cinema. The festival offers over 300 screenings, industry activities and talks, and includes Pardi di domani, a section dedicated to short and medium length films. A territory for formal and narrative experimentation, the section consists of three competitions: Concorso internazionale, for emerging filmmakers from all over the world; Concorso nazionale, for Swiss productions; and Corti d’autore, for shorts by established directors.
