Free Phaedra Vokali!
Free Phaedra Vokali!
The European Film Academy calls upon the Israeli authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Greek filmmaker Phaedra Vokali and to ensure that she and her companions receive legal and consular help without delay.
We encourage film and culture organisations around the world to do the same.
Phaedra Vokali was on board one of the Greek vessels participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla which was carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza. Her present location remains unknown following the interception of the vessels by Israeli forces in international waters southwest of Cyprus on Monday (18 May).
The European Film Academy joins various national and international associations that have issued statements and petitions in support of Phaedra Vokali and others detained, as well as a series of foreign ministers who have condemned the Israeli acts in a joint statement.
