Zbigniew Preisner is one of Poland’s leading film composers, known for his long-standing collaboration with director Krzysztof Kieślowski and writer Krzysztof Piesiewicz. He is also the artistic director of the ‘Preisner Scoring Competition’, an international composition contest for young creators of film and illustrative music endowed with 25.000 Euro.

“I am honored to serve as Principal of the Composer Chapter of the European Film Academy and to represent my fellow composer members at a time of profound change in our field. In recent years, original film scoring has increasingly been replaced by pre-existing music, and the growing use of AI-generated compositions raises urgent legal and ethical concerns. Such practices draw on the work of composers world wide without true creative authorship. As we face these challenges, it is essential that we stand together to protect our rights, artistic integrity, and shared humanity.”
