Accreditation to the European Film Awards is limited to people who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or who have recovered after a Covid-19 infection – provided they do not show typical Covid-19 symptoms.

A proof of vaccination or recovery must be digitally verifiable with an EU Digital COVID Certificate – printed QR codes are also digitally verifiable.

The mask requirement and the requirement to maintain a minimum distance will then no longer apply indoors.

By submitting the accreditation form, the media representative accepts and agrees to the following:

The entered and transmitted personal data will be stored in the European Film Academy database and used to contact you in connection with the accreditation process and for information purposes concerning the European Film Awards.

Representative’s name, media outlet and country may be passed on to other accredited media representatives, to our partners, sponsors and funding institutions, as well as to the agents of the nominees and winners of the European Film Awards. Furthermore, this information may be stored in order to fulfill our reporting obligations to the funding institutions and for other statistical evaluation.

Other personal data will be deleted as soon as the purpose for retaining such data ceases to apply, i.e. four weeks after the European Film Awards took place. Notwithstanding the generality of the foregoing, data may be stored if required by Union of Member State law to which we are subject.

Data will also be blocked or deleted if a retention period prescribed by laws and regulations expires, unless there is a need for further storage of the data for the conclusion of fulfillment of a contract.

8. EUROPEAN ANIMATED FEATURE FILM

8.1 In co-operation with CARTOON, the European Association of Animation Film, the award is presented to the European director(s) (see 1.6) of a European animated feature film intended for theatrical release.

8.2 To be eligible, the main production country of an animated feature film has to be European (see 1.5). Animated feature films taken into consideration must have a minimum length of 60 minutes. The films must have had their first official screening (be it at a festival, at a regular cinema or online) between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024. The Academy Board has the right to refrain from these rules in exceptional cases.

8.3 A film is considered an animated feature film with a minimum of 50% of the film being animated. In case of doubt, a decision will be made by the Academy Board.

8.4 Films must be submitted by their rights-holders and made available for viewing to the nomination committee. The submitted version has to be the original language version with English subtitles (for accessibility reasons this is also mandatory for English-language films).

Submission deadline for animated feature films is 30 June 2024.

8.5 A committee composed of animation experts appointed by CARTOON and the Academy Board nominates up to five films. The nomination committee may propose individual achievements in nominated films to be taken into consideration for the Excellence Awards (see 5.3 f.) where applicable.

8.6 The nominations are announced four to eight weeks prior to the European Film Awards Ceremony and are made available for viewing to the Academy Members who vote for the winner.

8.7 The votes are kept by a notary or an auditor. The winner is announced during the European Film Awards Ceremony.
