Accreditation to the European Film Awards is limited to people who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or who have recovered after a Covid-19 infection – provided they do not show typical Covid-19 symptoms.

A proof of vaccination or recovery must be digitally verifiable with an EU Digital COVID Certificate – printed QR codes are also digitally verifiable.

The mask requirement and the requirement to maintain a minimum distance will then no longer apply indoors.

By submitting the accreditation form, the media representative accepts and agrees to the following:

The entered and transmitted personal data will be stored in the European Film Academy database and used to contact you in connection with the accreditation process and for information purposes concerning the European Film Awards.

Representative’s name, media outlet and country may be passed on to other accredited media representatives, to our partners, sponsors and funding institutions, as well as to the agents of the nominees and winners of the European Film Awards. Furthermore, this information may be stored in order to fulfill our reporting obligations to the funding institutions and for other statistical evaluation.

Other personal data will be deleted as soon as the purpose for retaining such data ceases to apply, i.e. four weeks after the European Film Awards took place. Notwithstanding the generality of the foregoing, data may be stored if required by Union of Member State law to which we are subject.

Data will also be blocked or deleted if a retention period prescribed by laws and regulations expires, unless there is a need for further storage of the data for the conclusion of fulfillment of a contract.

Please note that during all official events of the EFA Weekend photo and video recordings are made, which may be used in digital and/or in printed media for press information and public relations. For details please see our Privacy Policy.

Participating in the European Film Awards implies the unconditional acceptance of the above conditions.

Apply for membership

Voting members of the European Film Academy are European film professionals whose work is recognised in Europe, who declare their willingness to actively support the aims of the Academy and to participate in the Academy’s training and promotional activities.

At present, the European Film Academy embraces 4,600 European film professionals – actors, actresses, casting directors, cinematographers, composers, costume designers, film critics and journalists, directors, distributors, editors, exhibitors, festival directors, hair & make-up artists, international sales agents, producers, production designers, screenwriters, sound designers, talent agents, and visual effects supervisors.

The annual Membership fee amounts to EUR 225 / Young Membership under 36 years, EUR 100.

If you wish to join the European Film Academy, please check the membership criteria below and complete the membership application form, if you fully meet them.

We might need some time to process your application, but will get back to you as soon as possible. We hope for your understanding that sending a follow-up e-mail cannot speed up the procedure.

Due to the large number of applications we currently receive, membership might possibly be confirmed only after 9 May (date of the yearly announcement of new members). If your membership is confirmed after 9 May, your name will be announced officially in 2025 (also on 9 May, Europe Day), but you can already participate in all activities in 2024 and will have full membership rights.

Membership Criteria (36+)

Every year, the European Film Academy Board invites new member candidates in spring. Confirmed members are officially announced on Europe Day (9 May).
Only film professionals who fulfil all membership criteria are invited. Film professionals interested in becoming a member can reach out to the Academy team.
The Academy may require recommendations or additional information in support of your candidacy.
To be considered as a new member, you need to provide us with sufficient data (see membership application form above).
Film professionals reaching out after the official deadline for annual new membership can be considered and confirmed as members outside the annual membership announcement. However, their names will be announced publicly at the following year’s announcement only.
New members have to decide in which section they wish to be listed: - Actor / Actress - Casting Director - Cinematographer - Composer - Costume Designer - Critic / Journalist - Director - Distributor/Exhibitor - Editor - Festival - Hair & Make-Up Artist - International Sales Agent - Producer - Production Designer - Screenwriter - Sound Designer - Talent Agent - Visual Effects Supervisor - Institutional (film schools, funding, other institutions, etc.)
Applicants working in the creative fields of the industry, as well as producers, must have worked on at least 3 full-length (70+ minutes) cinema productions (feature, documentary, animation) and must have received opening credits for their work on these films (upload filmography via application form above)
The European Film Academy decides individually on non-creative and institutional applications (upload a short CV in English via application form above)
Nominees and European Film Awards winners are invited to join the European Film Academy.
Nominees or winners of European national film awards are eligible to become members in the above-mentioned categories.

Young Membership Criteria (under 36)

Applicants must be under 36 years of age and have received opening credits for their work on at least one feature-length (70+ minutes) cinema production (fiction, documentary or animation) and this film must have had an official screening in a regular, international section of a competitive FIAPF-accredited European film festival or been nominated by a national film academy.
Otherwise, the above-mentioned criteria apply.
