Winterthur Short Film Candidate: DUSTIN

The European Film Academy and the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur congratulate:

Candidate of Winterthur Internationale Kurzfilmtage
DUSTIN
France, fiction, 20 min

WRITTEN & DIRECTED BY Naïla Guiguet
PRODUCED BY Jean-Etienne Brat & Lou Chicoteau

In an abandoned warehouse, a crowd is dancing as one on 145 BPM techno music. Among them is Dustin, a young transgender and crew: Felix, Raya and Juan. As the night draws on, collective hysteria morphs into sweet melancholy, and euphoria into yearning for tenderness.

DUSTIN was selected by the festival's international jury, comprised of curator Annette Amberg (Switzerland), independent curator, writer and translator Greg de Cuir Jr (Serbia), visual artist Randa Maroufi (France/Marocco), filmmaker & writer Oleksiy Radynski (Ukraine) and Léo Soesanto, Head of shorts, Cannes Critics’ Week (France).

The film is now a candidate for a nomination in the category 'European Short Film' at the 34th European Film Awards.

The EFA Short Film Programme is organised by the European Film Academy and EFA Productions in co-operation with a series of film festivals throughout Europe. At each of these festivals, an independent jury presents one of the European short films in competition with a candidacy in the short film category of the European Film Awards.

This is the third short film candidate for 2021. When the annual cycle is completed, the participating festivals will nominate five short films from this list. Afterwards, the 3,800 EFA Members – film professionals from all over Europe – will vote for the overall winner that will be presented at the 34th European Film Awards Ceremony.
