EFA Mourns Goran Paskaljevic

European cinema has lost a great filmmaker and the European Film Academy has lost a dear friend: Goran Paskaljevic.

Born in Belgrade, Goran Paskaljevic studied at the famous FAMU film school in Prague and became one of the most prominent names in Yugoslavian cinema. Throughout his career, his documentaries and feature films screened at international festivals, earning him nominations for the Berlinale Golden Bear, Cannes Palme d'Or, Venice Golden Lion and San Sebastian Golden Shell and winning him an EFA in 1998 for THE POWDER KEG (also known as CABARET BALKAN).

From 2011 to 2014, Goran Paskaljevic served as a member of the EFA Board.

He passed away on 25 September in Paris. He was 73. We will miss him.
