Odense Short Film Candidate: NINA

The European Film Academy and the Odense International Film Festival congratulate:

Candidate of OFF - Odense International Film Festival
Bulgaria, fiction, 20 min
DIRECTED BY Hristo Simeonov
WRITTEN BY Konstantin Bojanov
PRODUCED BY Poli Angelova, Elena Mosholova & Nikolay Todorov

Nina is an adolescent, who makes a living as a pickpocket in the mean streets of the big city, as her hometown in the countryside holds no options or future. This modern take on Oliver Twist also has its own Fagin character - one who keeps Nina in his grasp of crime and dependency. But when Nina is caught stealing one day, she’s given an opportunity to change her criminal ways … But is there really any alternatives for someone like Nina?

NINA was selected by the festival's jury consisting of animation film director Amalie Næsby Fick (Denmark), actor, producer and director Mazen Haj Kassem (Syria) and producer Morten Kaufmann (Denmark).

The film is now a candidate for a nomination in the category 'European Short Film' at the 33rd European Film Awards.

The EFA Short Film Programme is organised by the European Film Academy and EFA Productions in co-operation with a series of film festivals throughout Europe. At each of these festivals, an independent jury presents one of the European short films in competition with a candidacy in the short film category of the European Film Awards.

When the annual cycle is completed, the participating festivals will nominate five short films from this list. Afterwards, the 3,800 EFA Members – film professionals from all over Europe – will vote for the overall winner that will be presented at the 33rd European Film Awards Ceremony in Reykjavik.
