    BFI Southbank

The British Film Institute is a cultural charity, a National Lottery funding distributor, and the UK’s lead organisation for film and the moving image.

The BFI runs the BFI Southbank and the BFI IMAX cinema, both located on the south bank of the River Thames in London. The IMAX has the largest cinema screen in the UK and shows popular recent releases and short films showcasing its technology. BFI Southbank is the leading repertory cinema in the United Kingdom, specialising in seasons of classic, independent and non-English language films. The BFI also distributes archival and cultural cinema to other venues – each year to more than 800 venues all across the UK, as well as to a substantial number of overseas venues. Our BFI Stephen Street venue includes spaces for hire including events spaces, meeting rooms and screening rooms.

The BFI also hosts the annual BFI London Film Festival alongside partner cinemas across London and the UK.
