    Here come the nominees for the European Film Awards 2026!

    Today, the European Film Academy revealed the nominees for nine further categories of the 38th European Film Awards. The nominations were announced in front of an audience at the iconic Real Alcázar of Sevilla, following the 22nd Seville European Film Festival. The winners will be pronounced at the festive awards ceremony on 17 January 2026 in Berlin, Germany.     European Film:
    This category comprises five fiction film nominees as well as the nominated films from the categories “European Documentary” and “European Animated Feature Film” which are also vying for the category “European Film”.

    European Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI:
    This award is presented in co-operation with FIPRESCI, the International Federation of Film Critics, to a director for the first full-length fiction film. A committee composed of FIPRESCI members and experts appointed by the European Film Academy Board decides upon the six nominated films.

    The nominations are based on the votes of 5,400 members of the European Film Academy who have been watching the films included in the annual Academy Shortlist. Now the Academy members will vote for the winners. Last, but not least, next week remaining nominations will be announced. These are the details of the awarding procedure.

    The selection is based on the Diversity & Inclusion Standards of the European Film Academy.

    The ceremony of the European Film Awards – the most renowned and prestigious award for European film – is presented by the European Film Academy and European Film Academy Productions gGmbH and takes place on 17 January 2026 at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, Germany.
