    Born in Stockholm in 1955, Björn Johan Andrésen’s career started with a couple of acting and modeling jobs. He then acquired international fame for his portrayal of 14-year-old Tadzio in Luchino Visconti’s adaptation of Thomas Mann’s novella DEATH IN VENICE which premiered in Cannes and lead to Björn Andrésen being described as “the most beautiful boy in the world”.

    After the success of DEATH IN VENICE he went to Japan for a while where he landed some hits as a singer and became a teenage star. This was followed by various appearances in Swedish films such as THE SMUGGLER KING (1985) by Sune Lund-Sørensen and MIDSUMMER (2019) by Ari Aster and TV series like GENTLEMEN & GANGSTERS (2016) and SPRING TIDE (2016 – 2018).

    Björn Andrésen saw himself foremost as a musician. He played in different bands and gave private music lessons.

    The 2021 documentary THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOY IN THE WORLD by Kristina Lindström and Kristian Petri portrayed him, coping with early fame and his often difficult life. The film premiered in Sundance and was later nominated for the European Film Awards.

    Björn Andrésen died on 25 October 2025 at the age of 70. We will miss him.
