This year’s Academy Shortlist is finally here — bringing with it a fantastic PR opportunity. The shortlisted films have been recommended for nomination at the 38th European Film Awards, taking place in Berlin on January 17, 2026. We encourage you to seize this moment and leverage the incredible potential that comes with the Academy Shortlist. In this guide, we share practical tips to help you join the celebration and amplify the buzz.
Social Media
- Use the official hashtag: #europeanfilmawards and #europeancinema
- Tag the European Film Academy on social media: Instagram / Facebook / LinkedIn
- Spread the word by posting the shortlist visual (provided individually), see examples below. They are available to be published from the day of the announcement, on 14 October 2025 for the Feature Film Shortlist, the Documentary Film Shortlist, and for the Animated Feature Film Shortlist.

You are explicitly obliged to mention that the film is part of the Academy Shortlist by using the provided logo in all kinds of future promotion, credits, advertising, press and publications related to the shortlisted film. Kindly refer to the logo manual.

What’s next:
- From October until November, we share information and focus on the shortlisted films on the Academy’s social media channels.
- On 18 November 2025 the ‘Month of European Film’ will start and will culminate on the day of the European Film Awards, 17 January 2026 in Berlin.
