EFA Mourns Bruno Ganz

European cinema has lost a great filmmaker and the European Film Academy has lost a dear friend: Bruno Ganz

The Swiss actor was internationally celebrated for his various theatre and film performances. He worked with Wim Wenders in THE AMERICAN FRIEND (1977) and again in WINGS OF DESIRE (1988). He was nominated for the European Film Awards in 2000 for BREAD AND TULIPS by Silvio Soldini, for which he also received the Italian David di Donatello Award and the Swiss Film Prize, and in 2004 for DOWNFALL by Oliver Hirschbiegel. In 2010 he received the EFA Lifetime Achievement Award. Bruno Ganz died today in Zurich. We will miss him.
