Vila do Conde Nominates AQUAPARQUE by Ana Moreira

The European Film Academy (EFA) and Curtas Vila Do Conde - International Film Festival congratulate:

Vila do Conde Short Film Nominee
AQUAPARQUE
by Ana Moreira
Portugal, fiction, 16 min

Can a teenage girl dream that the old pool in a disused water park is an Olympic stadium where she is giving the performance of a lifetime, worthy of a medal, with Shirley Bassey singing “Nobody does it like me”? Can she forget she is living in a country trapped in a social and economic crisis and ignore the unemployment, lack of prospects and possibility of having to emigrate? Can she ensure that her happiness depends on her alone - or will she risk this happiness for love?

The international jury consisted of film critic and EFA Member Laurence Boyce (UK), programmer Aurélie Chesné (France Télévisions) and writer/director Nadav Lapid (Israel).

The film is now nominated for the award 'European Short Film 2018'. It joins the following films which were already nominated:

The EFA Short Film Programme is organised by the European Film Academy in co-operation with a series of film festivals throughout Europe. At each of these festivals, an independent jury presents one of the European short films in competition with a nomination in the short film category of the European Film Awards.

The next nomination for 2018 will be presented in co-operation with the Locarno Festival .

When the annual cycle is completed, the nominees will be presented to the more than 3,500 members of the European Film Academy and it is they who will elect the overall winner: the European Short Film 2018 which will be presented at the 31st European Film Awards Ceremony on 15 December in Seville.
