The 29th European Film Awards in Wroclaw
Saturday, 10 December 2016
The 29th European Film Awards will be celebrated in Wroclaw, European Capital of Culture 2016. Wroclaw is the capital city of the Lower Silesia region, located on the Odra river. It is the largest city in western Poland, famous for its bridges, parks, palaces, historical monuments, nightlife and even dwarfs which can be met all over the city.
The weekend programme traditionally includes a reception and film gala on Friday night, the awards ceremony itself and an after-show party.
The ceremony will take place at the National Forum of Music (NFM), designed by Kuryłowicz & Associates, a multi-venue facility including a concert hall with 1,800 seats in parterre, amphitheatre, choir and on three balconies. The building itself was inspired by musical instruments – its shape and the façade covering imitating timber resemble the body of a string instrument. The foyer, covered with black and white Corian, brings to mind the piano keyboard.
The European Film Awards 2016 are presented by the European Film Academy and EFA Productions in co-operation with the European Capital of Culture Wroclaw 2016, supported by its funders the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland and the Polish Film Institute, the National Forum of Music as co-organizer and KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. as strategic partner; and with the support of the Creative Europe MEDIA Sub-Programme of the EU, FFA German Federal Film Board, German State Minister for Culture and the Media, LOTTO Foundation Berlin, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Aveda, Euronews, Fair Spirits presented by DV-V, Filmweb, GLS, Jägermeister, M∙A∙C, Mercedes-Benz Duda-Cars, Nespresso, TVN and Volvo.EFA PATRONS 2016: CATALAN INSTITUTE FOR CULTURAL COMPANIES FROM THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE OF CATALONIA * CENTRE DU CINEMA OF THE FEDERATION WALLONIA BRUSSELS * CENTRE NATIONAL DU CINEMA ET DE L'IMAGE ANIMEE (CNC) * CHIMNEY * DANISH FILM INSTITUTE * DI FACTORY * ESTONIAN FILM INSTITUTE * EURIMAGES * FILM FINANCE SCANDINAVIA AB * FILM FUND LUXEMBOURG * FILM VÄST * FLANDERS AUDIOVISUAL FUND (VAF) * ICELANDIC FILM CENTRE * INSTITUTO DO CINEMA E DO AUDIOVISUAL (ICA) * IRISH FILM BOARD * ISTITUTO LUCE-CINECITTA S.R.L. * KOSOVO CINEMATOGRAPHY CENTER * LITHUANIAN FILM CENTRE * LUX FILM PRIZE * MACEDONIAN FILM AGENCY * MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND CULTURE OF CYPRUS (CULTURAL SERVICES) * NETHERLANDS FILM FUND * OPUS FILM SP.
