EFA Nomination for Irish Short

The European Film Academy (EFA) and the Sarajevo Film Festival congratulate the

Sarajevo Short Film Nominee for the European Film Awards 2009

THE HERD

Ireland 2008, 4′, documentary

The film is now nominated for the European Film Academy Short Film 2009. It was selected by the festival’s European Short Film Jury, consisting of director Corneliu Porumboiu (Romania), Eva Vezer (general manager of the Hungarian Film Union), and Dylan Leiner (Sony Pictures Classics’ Executive Vice President).

Ken Wardrop won the EFA’s Short Film Award in 2005 for his film UNDRESSING MY MOTHER. In his short documentary THE HERD a farmer and his mother discuss the arrival of a strange animal amongst their herd of Limousin cattle.

The short film initiative is organised by the European Film Academy in co-operation with a series of film festivals throughout Europe. At each of these festivals, an independent jury presents one of the European short films in competition with a nomination in the short film category of the European Film Awards.

The overall winner will be presented during the Awards Ceremony on 12 December in Germany’s Ruhr Metropolis.

The next nomination will be presented in co-operation with the Venice International Film Festival.
