Press release # 3/2009

The European Film Academy (EFA) and the Tampere Film Festival congratulate the

Tampere Short Film Nominee for the European Film Awards 2009
SZKLANA PULAPKA
(The Glass Trap)
by Pawel Ferdek (Poland)

The film is now nominated for the European Film Academy Short Film 2009. The film was selected by the festival’s international jury consisting of Ngo Phuong Lan (Vietnam), Maike Mia Höhne (Germany) William Sloan (USA), Montserrat Guiu Valls (Spain), and Kristiina Pervilä (Finland).

Born in 1977, Pawel Ferdek is a screenwriter and author of documental films. He graduated at the Institute of International Relations at Warsaw University, the Academy of Theatrical Practices at Gardzienice and the European Programme EKRAN at the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing. THE GLASS TRAP is a speedy ride: without pointing out or moralising, the film gets us into a world of trendy fashionable aggression.

The short film initiative is organised by the European Film Academy in co-operation with a series of film festivals throughout Europe. At each of these festivals, an independent jury presents one of the European short films in competition with a nomination in the short film category of the European Film Awards.

The overall winner will be presented during the Awards Ceremony in December in Germany’s Ruhr area.

SZKLANA PULAPKA joins the following nominees:

ZWEMLES by Danny de Vent (Belgium),
14 by Asitha Ameresekere (UK),
LÄGG M FÖR MORD by Magnus Holmgren (Sweden),
WAS BLEIBT by David Nawrath (Germany),
DIE LEIDEN DES HERRN KARPF. DER GEBURTSTAG by Lola Randl (Germany),

The next nomination will be presented in co-operation with the Cracow Film Festival.
