Press release # 1/2009
The European Film Academy (EFA) and the Berlin International Film Festival congratulate the
Berlinale Short Film Nominee for the European Film Awards 2009
DIE LEIDEN DES HERRN KARPF. DER GEBURTSTAG.
(The Suffering of Mr. Karpf. The Birthday.)
by Lola Randl (Germany)
The film is now nominated for the European Film Academy Short Film 2009. The film was selected by the festival’s International Short Film Jury consisting of Khavn de la Cruz (Philippines), Arta Dobroshi (Kosovo) and Lars Henrik Gass (Germany). They explained their decision with the following statement:
A documentary or fiction - it doesn’t really matter. It contains a way of acting which is both intelligent and simple. A movie dealing with individual problems which are presented in artistic form.
